Nyx users can join our [Telegram group](/help-center/overview#support) for support and important announcements. ## Nyx Alpha v5 is now live on Aztec v5! [Aztec v5](https://aztec.network/alpha-v5) includes many performance and security updates. Nyx Alpha v5 includes [updates we've made](/changelog) as well. Our previous version, Nyx Alpha v4 on Aztec v4, is now in read-only mode and will be turned off at end of UTC day August 7, 2026. If you had funds on v4 and were unable to remove in time, see the next section on the reimbursement process (which must be completed by end of UTC day August 7). ### How to recover your v4 assets Nyx Alpha v4 is being supported in read-only mode until end of UTC day August 7, 2026. We've set up the following process to help users recover any assets they have stuck on v4. **Required steps (must be completed by end of UTC day August 7)** 1. Create a [Nyx Alpha v5](https://app.nyx.money/) private account. 2. Connect to your [Nyx Alpha v4 account](https://app-v4.nyx.money/). 3. Take a screenshot of your entire Alpha v4 private account section (see image example below). We ask for this because no one can view your private account balance. Not even if you gave us the address. 4. Send the screenshot and your new, *Nyx Alpha v5* private account address to us by DMing an admin in our [Signal group](https://signal.group/#CjQKIOEQ5BYqVS7PfStXkUbfpy9l9w9tQ1USjszHS8VZTq3GEhDwLUJnIG7rHWucYTMOe2C5) or [Telegram channel](/help-center/overview#support), or DMing us on [X](https://x.com/nyxmoney). **Privacy Notes:** * **Do not share your associated L1 address as this will reveal information about you to us.** * Due to the strong privacy guarantees of Aztec and Nyx, sharing your private address [does not reveal](/help-center/nyx-privacy#revealing-your-private-address-does-not-expose-your-private-balance-or-transaction-history) the assets you hold or the transactions you've made, now or into the future. For all approved submissions, we will send assets to the associated Nyx v5 private account by end of UTC day August 21. *v4 Private account screenshot example* ## What is Nyx Alpha? Nyx and the [Aztec blockchain](https://aztec.network/alpha-v5) it uses are both in alpha with the goal of catching and fixing vulnerabilities before moving to beta. Use Mainnet at your own risk. We have Mainnet deposit limits and every couple of months you'll need to perform a simple migration. We have two modes: 1. **Sepolia Testnet:** Use to try out our features with no risk. 2. **Ethereum Mainnet:** Aztec Alpha Mainnet carries inherent risk. We recommend treating any funds deposited here as experimental. Only use what you can afford to lose while we and Aztec work toward a stable release. We encourage you to treat Nyx Alpha as an opportunity to test, give feedback, and help shape the direction of Nyx. In the coming months, once Nyx and Aztec are more battle-tested, both will graduate to beta. Around this point we'll raise or remove our Mainnet deposit limits (see next section). *** ## Mainnet deposit limits We have deposit limits per connected Ethereum wallet of * 100 USDC * 100 USDT * 0.05 WETH If you deposit 80 USDC, you can only deposit 20 more. When you withdraw to your connected public account, your deposit limit resets by that amount (up to the max of 100). We've worked hard to make the process as seamless as possible for our users, including maintaining user passkeys and Ethereum contacts across versions and giving clear in-app guidance. We'll announce the timing of migrations on [Telegram](/help-center/overview#support) and [X](https://x.com/nyxmoney), and update our in-app banner as well. Migrations, while annoying for the user experience, allow Aztec to make regular, substantial performance and security improvements. Thank you for your understanding during alpha. **What Nyx users need to do before a version upgrade** Remove all assets. Approximately three weeks ahead of migrations, Aztec will bring the next proposed version to the governance process to vote on. At this time, security vulnerabilities in the current version will be exposed. Nyx users need to pull their funds out ahead of this date for the safety of their funds. We'll post these dates on [Telegram](/help-center/overview#support) and [X](https://x.com/nyxmoney) once Aztec posts about it on [their X](https://x.com/aztecnetwork). Additionally, when a new version launches, the previous version of Nyx - which uses the previous version of Aztec - will become read-only, so asset removal will no longer work. **What Nyx users need to do after a version upgrade** Create a Nyx private account on the new version of Aztec and add assets. These migrations involve deploying a private account for you on the updated Aztec version. As a result, your private account address is almost certain to change. Also, your contact book will become invalid because your contacts' addresses will likely have all changed. You'll need to re-add people after asking for their new address. Finally, you'll lose your transaction history from the previous Aztec version. However, your passkeys and Ethereum contacts will carry over to your new account.
