What risks are involved in using Nyx?
This is an alpha version of Nyx so we cannot guarantee that your funds have a high degree of safety. This is why we’ve set Mainnet deposit limits, limited access, and have kept Testnet mode (so you can explore Nyx and give feedback safely). Using Nyx today includes, but may not be limited to, the following risks:- Nyx smart contracts and app code may have vulnerabilities. We will of course address any as they are found. We also plan to get security audits and open source much or all of our code in the coming months after our product has matured and evolved.
- The Aztec blockchain Nyx uses for private accounts and private account actions is itself in alpha, and the current version (v4) has at least one vulnerability. Any discovered vulnerabilities will be addressed in the subsequent Aztec version release (versions are expected to rollout every 2-3 months, so v5 is likely to land roughly sometime in July).
- Any third-party smart contracts Nyx interacts with, including those from Aave for our earn feature, may have vulnerabilities.
- Your browser and/or wallet software may have vulnerabilities.
How can I improve my safety?
- Use Testnet mode for some or all of your testing.
- Only use a small amount of real funds on Mainnet (what you can afford to lose).
- Ensure passkey availability so you don’t lose access to your funds.
